The Arthur Purdy Stout Society of surgical pathology officers meet annually. One of the topics of discussion is the following year's USCAP companion meeting content. The APSS officers considered the foundations from which modern pathology arose and selected topics of general interest in order to mark the 60th anniversary of Dr. Stout’s retirement. Ideas from Stout's time have evolved into the way we practice pathology today and the society will explore four areas of pathology that have evolved.

There are only a few actively practicing pathologists who had a chance to work with Dr. Stout and the society if fortunate that one of them will be able to show what it was like to be a colleague of Stout himself. We will also review evolution of current thought about lymphomas, nerve sheath tumors, sarcomas, and breast pathology.

The purpose of the 2011 Arthur Purdy Stout Society program is to allow practicing pathologists to consider current concepts in areas of hematopathology, soft tissue pathology, and breast pathology.
