Dermatopathology constitutes one of the largest components in any pathology practice. Due to its medico-legal implications, most of the teaching effort is devoted to the field of melanocytic lesions. However, the bulk of skin specimens encountered comprise non-melanocytic lesions, either neoplastic or inflammatory. The objective of this course is to cover the very important field of non-melanocytic dermatopathology, with special emphasis on those lesions that most commonly raise diagnostic problems.

The format of the course will be centered on twelve representative lesions. The salient diagnostic histologic features will be stressed along with those clinical data that aid in the diagnosis. When indicated, the discussion will include immunohistochemical and electron microscopic data, as well as information about the ever-growing field of molecular biology. Other specimens illustrating the differential diagnosis will be demonstrated.

A limited number of sets of glass slides will be available for advance study prior to the meeting. Upon return of the glass slides, all registrants will receive a set of representative transparencies after the meeting. The registrants are encouraged to submit their diagnosis in writing before the meeting, in order to modify the discussion accordingly. A syllabus will be distributed at the course.
