Members of the program committee were asked for their input on possible topics. There was general agreement that gastrointestinal pathology should be the topic. Based on recent advances in the field, the final list of speakers and topics were chosen. These topics all represent common diagnostic issues in surgical pathology in which recent advances have changed the practice of pathology/clinical medicine.
