| Using input from members of the Society, suggestions from previous meetings evaluation forms, and the Program Committee, criteria for topic selection included the potential interest by pulmonary, as well as general, pathologists, need for update in a specific area due to publication of new classifications or significant new information, and consideration for other topics being presented at the USCAP meeting. A balance was sought between the presentation of practical as well as new scientific information. This topic will provide information on distinguishing between bronchioloalveolar carcinoma and adenocarcinoma, not otherwise specified; knowing whether the distinction between the two has clinical relevance; knowing what pathologic factors are important in the assessment of lung cancer specimens and how to recognize them; knowing what elements are important for the complete reporting of cases of primary lung carcinoma. |
