This program was chosen to present a review of issues and developments in aspiration cytology of the thyroid gland. Recommendations for performance, interpretation and reporting of fine-needle aspirates of the thyroid will be presented and discussed. The issues to be evaluated and recommendations made will include indications, technique adequacy, diagnostic terminology, and ancillary testing. The recommendations will be published in their entirety after the conference as the “Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology Recommendations for Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration.”
