7:30  GI-NETs - Uniform, but also Diverse - Yogeshwar Dayal, Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, MA
8:00  Prognostic Factors in GI-NETs - Guido Rindi, University of Parma, Italy
8:30  Precursor Lesions of GI-NETs - Martin Anlauf, University of Kiel, Germany
9:00  Molecular Events in GI-NETs - Irina A. Lubensky, NCI, NIH, Rockville, MD
The topic was chosen after an informal poll of members, a review of programs from previous years and consultations with current and past office bearers of the society. Our understanding of the histogenetic and molecular pathology aspects of gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors has advanced significantly since these lesions were last visited in this forum. The various topics are expected to appeal to general surgical pathologists and those with a special interest in GI and endocrine pathology. A more widespread familiarity with recent advances in mechanisms underlying these proliferative lesions is expected to improve the level of routine pathology practice.
