—  COMPANION SOCIETY MEETINGS  —

The Academy jointly sponsors Companion Meeting Society symposia on Saturday and Sunday of the Annual Meeting. These programs have been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) by the societies and the USCAP. The Academy is Accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Objective:
The objective of the jointly sponsored Companion Meetings is to present a forum for the expression of sub-specialties in pathology and to bring to the participants, through a symposium mechanism, the latest in science information and practice in these particular areas of expertise. There is a continuing influx of new information needed for the practice of pathology and these symposia bring to the participants the latest information from pathology sub-specialties regarding utilizing newly acquired information, recent technical advances and new or updated concepts in their particular areas of expertise. These jointly sponsored meetings serve to supplement the USCAP meetings and do not duplicate the various aspects of the Academy program.

Disclosure:
In accordance with USCAP Policy and ACCME guidelines, the faculty members for this Companion Society Symposium were required to complete disclosure forms indicating whether or not they (or their spouse or partner) have any significant financial or other relationship with a commercial company, entity, or service (which would be discussed in this educational program) which might be perceived as influencing the content or conclusions reached in this presentation, currently or in the previous twelve months. Relevant disclosure information for speakers is posted on the website at the beginning of each Companion Society handout. The Academy also requires that the speakers disclose any "off label" uses of pharmaceutical products or medical devices prior to their presentation.

Handouts:
As previously, paper handouts are not distributed at the meeting. A booklet containing an agenda and "take home messages" for each Companion Society symposia will be available at the meeting. Handouts for Companion Society symposia are placed on the USCAP website prior to the meeting so they can be viewed or printed at your convenience before, during, or after the meeting. We feel this meets the needs of those we serve in a way that makes sense by using electronic tools to make the information available at their convenience on their own computer. Handouts accessible online, anytime, anywhere - and they will remain available after the meeting!
