Myocardial infarction is a major cause of morbility and mortality even in East countries. However, great advances have been achieved in the early diagnosis and treatment. The decreased mortality from myocardial infarction, due to aggressive interventional cardiology and monitoring in coronary care units is a paradigm of the success of modern medicine. Pathology played a major role in determining the time of irreversible myocardial ischemia injury for early treatment.
