MEETING VENUE

The Hyatt Regency is the headquarters hotel. All scientific presentations will be in the Colorado Convention Center. Most of the receptions and luncheons and some of the committee meetings will be held in the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Various hotels may be utilized for registrants sleeping rooms. Information on all hotels is available on this website.

Make room reservations directly with the various hotels.

You are encouraged to register online before the meeting.

The General Registration Fee is required for admittance to any function of the Academy. This fee allows you to attend all abstract presentations on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (platform or poster), Plenary Lectures, evening Specialty Conferences, Scientific Exhibits, Wine and Cheese Reception. Additional fees are required for the Long Course, Special Courses and Short Courses. A single registration fee is required for admittance to any one, or all, of the Companion Meetings held on Saturday evening and Sunday. The Society for Pediatric Pathology is not a Companion Meeting. Registration for their meeting will be handled by the SPP office and will be located in the the Convention Center Lobby A.

REFUND POLICY
Cancellations received on or before January 18, 2008 are subject to a $25 administrative charge and a handling fee of $25 fee for each short course cancelled if study materials were mailed. Cancellations received after January 18, 2008 will be assessed an administrative charge of 25% of the total registration fee.

No refunds will be made on cancellations received after February 28th and no refunds will be made until short course study materials have been returned.

EXHIBITS
Scientific and technical exhibits, book and journal displays will be in the Convention Center Exhibit Hall A. The exhibits are open from Monday, March 3 through Wednesday, March 5 the same hours as the poster sessions.

Those responsible for presentation of a poster should be at these sessions during the coffee breaks in order to expand on the material and to answer questions.

Morning Coffee Break is scheduled from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Afternoon Coffee Break is 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

STOWELL-ORBISON, AUTOPSY and SURGICAL PATHOLOGY AWARDS FOR PATHOLOGISTS-IN-TRAINING
The Stowell-Orbison Awards were inaugurated to recognize scientific achievement by young pathologists while in training. The selections will be made by members of the Education Committee. The Association of Directors of Anatomic and Surgical Pathology and the USCAP jointly offer an award for the best scientific poster based on autopsy material and in general surgical pathology. The selection will be made by a panel of members of the ADASP. Posters eligible for these Awards will be on display on Monday morning. The awards will be presented during the Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 4.

BENJAMIN CASTLEMAN AWARD
The Benjamin Castleman Award is presented to a pathologist or a pathologist-in-training who has not yet reached the age of 40, for an outstanding paper published in English. The subject may be on any topic in pathology based on human material. This award is administered by the Massachusetts General Hospital and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology and financed by a fund established by former students, residents, and colleagues at the Massachusetts General Hospital in recognition of Dr. Castleman's valued contributions to human anatomic pathology. The award will be presented at the Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 4.

F. STEPHEN VOGEL AWARD
The F. Stephen Vogel Award was established by contributions to a fund created by his family and friends. It is awarded for an outstanding paper by a resident or fellow published in one of the Academy journals, Modern Pathology or Laboratory Investigation, during the preceding calendar year. The Awardee must: 1) be a member, in good standing, of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology for at least a year prior to receiving the award; 2) possess an M.D. or equivalent degree; and 3) be a pathology resident or fellow in an accredited training program at the time of the paper's acceptance for publication. Applicants should be the first author, or document a significant contribution to the paper. For papers with multiple authorship, only one author is eligible. The award will be presented at the Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 4.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDITS
The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The USCAP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 60 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ . Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Medical Association has determined that physicians not licensed in the US who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA category 1 credit.

SELF-ASSESSMENT MODULE CREDITS
The USCAP is approved by the American Board of Pathology to offer Self-Assessment Module (SAMs) credits. SAMs credits are necessary to meet the ABP requirements for maintenance of certification. Selected short courses qualify for SAMs credits. After the meeting you will be resuired to take and pass an online exam for each course you have taken and wish to use as SAMs credits. Each short course qualifies for 3 SAMs credits. Courses which qualify are identified at the end of the course name listed in this book. The maximum number of SAMs credits which may be earned during the Annual Meeting is 18.

  • The programs of these societies have been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the USCAP and the societies listed above. The Academy takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of these CME activities. The meeting of the Society for Pediatric Pathology is separately accredited and is not included in this joint sponsorship.

    GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROGRAM
    The overall goal of this program is to provide participants with new information both at the investigative and applied practice level and to reinforce and update their knowledge in their area of interest and expertise. Concomitant with this is the introduction of topics of particular intellectual and professional interest to pathologists. This varied program is planned to meet the educational objectives that mature professionals can set for themselves and to serve the needs of pathologists of various levels of experience from residents and fellows to the well established and expert investigator and practitioner. Specifically, to meet these goals and objectives, it provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of advances in the understanding of pathologic processes and for the presentation and critical evaluation of the application of scientific, technological and methodological advances.

    INTERNET CAFE / MESSAGE CENTER
    A bank of computers will be available in the Convention Center Lobby A. A list of meeting registrants can be accessed through the USCAP website. During the meeting, messages can be left for them on this site by using the computer stations or by going to the USCAP website and clicking on Meeting Registrants.

    MICROSCOPIC STUDY ROOM
    The Microscopic Study Room will be located in the Convention Center Room 101. It will be open Sunday, March 2 through Thursday, March 6 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight, and Friday, March 7 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for the purpose of studying the slides and protocols used in Specialty Conferences and Short Courses.

    SPEAKER PREVIEW ROOM
    Only electronic/LCD projection will be utilized for all presentations. Specific details on regarding AV requirements will be sent to all presenters prior to the meeting.

    Computers as well as projection equipment will be available in the Speaker Preview Room in the Convention Center Room 210: Saturday through Thursday (7:00 am - 6:00 pm) and Friday (7:00 am - 1:00 pm) so that individuals presenting papers, as well as faculty, may have the opportunity to review their materials and familiarize themselves with the projection equipment that will be used.

    POSTER PICKUP AND POSTER VIEWING STATION
    Poster Pick-up Location: Call4Posters® / Posters2View™ Booth, at the back of Exhibit Hall A, Colorado Convention Center. The hours are Monday and Tuesday 7:00am 5:00pm and Wednesday, 7:00am 4:00pm. Posters which were created, or submitted for printing and shipping, using Marathon Multimedia's Call4Posters, may be picked up at their booth. All poster presenters have the option of submitting (free of charge) their posters electronically and having them posted on the USCAP website where they will be available for viewing after the meeting. Please visit the Marathon booth to get details. This will provide an opportunity for a much larger audience to view your poster.
