SHORT COURSES IN PATHOLOGY

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
March 5 - 7, 2008

The educational objectives for the short course program are: 1) to sharpen existing expertise, 2) to enhance the participants spectrum of professional competence, 3) to stimulate interest, understanding and preparation for future responsibilities, 4) to update basic science concepts for procedures and precepts used in practice and 5) to provide, when needed, an understanding of current standards, techniques, criteria, classifications, etc.

The courses will be presented on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, March 5 - 7th. The Wednesday courses will be scheduled from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 N and 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.( with an hour break to allow viewing of the posters). The Thursday and Friday courses will be scheduled from 8:00 - 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. Information on study material is included in each course description. Study sets, where available, will be mailed to registrants beginning early in January.

Loan sets of glass slides will be issued on a first come, first served basis since the number available is limited. Because of customs regulations, glass slides will not be mailed outside the U.S. and are only mailed prior to the Annual Meeting. Loan sets of glass slides are not mailed to Junior Members using the reduced registration fees. LOAN SETS OF GLASS SLIDES ARE TO BE RETURNED TO THE MEETING REGISTRATION DESK AT THE CONVENTION CENTER PRIOR TO THE COURSE. NO TICKETS WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT THE RETURN OF YOUR LOAN SETS, UNLESS A $100.00 DEPOSIT FOR EACH SET IS MADE.

Some courses have virtual slides, or still images, for study prior to the course. Beginning with this meeting, no study materials except glass slides will be mailed in advance. Instead, registrants will be mailed a link to a website where they can view both still images and virtual slides online. After the meeting, all registrants for courses which have glass slides, still images, or virtual slides will be mailed a CD-ROM of representative materials to keep for their future reference. If a short course has glass slides, they will be available for viewing in the microscope room at the Convention Center from Sunday, March 2 through Friday noon, March 7.

THE COURSE OFFERINGS ARE DESCRIBED ON THE FOLLOWING PAGES AND ARE PRESENTED IN THEIR DESIGNATED TIME SLOTS WHICH CORRESPOND TO THE PRE-REGISTRATION CARD.

NOTE: In keeping with the short course rotation policy, certain courses will not be offered after the 2008 meeting. This information is noted at the end of the course description of those courses. Courses which are new for 2008 are also identified.
