This symposia aims to: 1) Provide an update on the analytical methods that can be used in everyday surgical pathology to aid common and rare neuropathological entities; 2) Provide an update on novel markers and their use in surgical neuropathology; 3) Discuss appropriate panels that can be used in glial and non-glial neoplasms; 4) Present methods and approaches to diagnose/identify old and emerging infections of the CNS; 5) Present a discussion on the state-of-the-art in digital microscopy and its educational, clinical and research applications. The lecture series will present issues that are not only pertinent to surgical neuropathology, but will also be applicable to everyday surgical pathology.
