There is a group of uncommon lung lesions which are not often covered in currently available pulmonary pathology courses, but which can occur with sufficient frequency in both community and academic practices to pose significant diagnostic challenges for pathologists as well as their clinical colleagues. This course is designed for practicing community and academic pathologists, pathology trainees with special interest in lung diseases. This course will utilize a conventional case study approach to review some of these lesions. Pre-registrants will receive a website address prior to the course to view twelve cases as virtual slides accompanied by clinical histories. Presentations will be practically oriented with concise discussions (i.e. 10-12 minutes per case) that emphasize key clinical features and differential diagnosis. Both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions will be included. The purpose is to enable practitioners at all levels to successfully handle potentially difficult problems in neoplastic and non-neoplastic lung disease. Handouts will be available at the course. A CD including all PowerPoint presentations will be mailed to registrants after the meeting. This course may be used for CME credits or SAM’s credits.
