Submitted by: Guliz Barkan, Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL

Clinical Summary:

An 82-year-old man presented with severe dyspnea on exertion and severe pain between his scapulae. He had a significant past medical history of adenocarcinoma of the colon, and a recent history of prostatic carcinoma with a TRUS prostatic biopsy revealing prostatic adenocarcinoma, Gleason score 4+4=8. In an effort to evaluate the dyspnea, a chest X-ray was taken, followed by CT of the abdomen, thorax, and pelvis. Imaging showed enlarged mediastinal, retroperitoneal, and retrocrural lymph nodes, numerous lung nodules < 5 mm, bilateral pleural effusions, ascitis and a heterogenous 6.0 x 6.1 x 5.3 cm. mass occupying most of the right kidney. An FNA of the renal mass was performed.

Submitted by: Christine Booth, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH

Clinical Summary:

A 77-year old man with a history of glomerulonephritis status post renal transplant (1992) and chronic immunosuppression complains of a red nodule on his scalp. He also has a history significant for squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas of the skin, actinic keratoses and a superficial melanoma. On exam, there is an area of erythema and thickening on the right side of the face measuring 5 cm in greatest dimension. There is also a right posterior cervical mass measuring 6 x 6 cm, most likely representing matted lymph nodes. Fine needle aspiration was performed on the right posterior cervical mass.
