CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDITS
The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The USCAP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 52.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Medical Association has determined that physicians not licensed in the US who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.

Category 1 Credit Hours:

Scientific Abstract Presentations 8.75 hours (total available)
Specialty Conferences 2.0 hours each
Kaufman Timely Topics Lecture 1.0 hour
Maude Abbott Lecture 1.0 hour
Long Course 5.5 hours
Short Courses 3.0 hours each
Molecular Special Courses 5 hours each
Companion Meetings 3 hours each

An Evaluation must be completed prior to claiming CME credit for the various offerings. The evaluation forms and CME claim forms can be accessed through the USCAP website after the meeting begins.

The Academy is approved by the American Board of Pathology to offer Self-Assessment Module (SAMs) credits. SAMs credits are necessary to meet the AMB requirements for maintenance of certification. There will be a significant increase in the number of SAMs credits available at the 2010 Annual Meeting. Many of the Companion Meeting Symposia; all of the evening Specialty Conferences; and all except a couple of the short courses will offer SAMs credits for a total of 252 SAMs. Because many of these offerings are presented in overlapping time slots, an individual may accrue a maximum number of 40 SAMs credits at this one meeting. After attending the educational offering and completing an evaluation, you will be required to take and pass an online exam in order to claim SAMs credits.

The Academy also jointly sponsors the programs of the following Companion Societies whose programs have been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the USCAP and these societies.
