Course Description
This two hour course is designed to provide basic information about academic medical centers and pathology departments and what skills junior faculty need for success in this milieu. It will feature practical advice related to interviewing for an academic position, writing a curriculum vitae and personal statement, preparing for a promotion, presenting a lecture, and writing a manuscript and responding to reviewers. The format will consist of didactic presentations interlaced with illustrative examples and case-based discussions. The course is recommended for senior residents contemplating a career in academia, junior faculty in academic positions, particularly those on clinical or educator tracks, or senior faculty serving as mentors or program directors.
