This topic was chosen in order to update the audience with respect to the pathologic assessment and clinical management of gastric disorders. This topic has not been covered in detail in prior symposia. The discussion will target issues ranging from historical perspectives on, and diagnostic challenges related to, the diagnosis and classification of gastritis and neoplasia, as well as advances in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of gastric neoplasia. The keynote speaker is an internationally recognized hematopathologist who will provide attendees with a comprehensive review of gastric lymphoproliferative disorders. Members of the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society Education Committee were involved in the selection and topics and speakers.
