The companion society lecture series aims to: 1) Provide an update on the current approach to aid in the diagnosis of common and rare neuropathological entities. 2) Provide a practical algorithm and discuss common problems that plague surgical pathologists during the intraoperative evaluation of neurosurgical specimens. 3) Provide practical information on common artifacts that can be seen in neuropatholgoy specimens and mislead the surgical pathologist to an erroneous diagnosis. 4) Discuss appropriate use of common immunohistochemical markers in the diagnosis of neuropathology cases.

The lecture series will present issues that are pertinent to everyday surgical pathology practice and provide information on recent advances in surgical neuropathology. The topics and speakers were selected by the ANNP-USCAP Liaisons and the Professional Affairs Committee and approved by the AANP Executive Council.
