Served on NIH Study Sections for over 16 years. Author of more than 400 papers; 35 book chapters (including the first Atlas of NonTumor Pathology on Endocrine Diseases for the AFIP/ARP) and 7 books. President: Endocrine Pathology Society (1999-2000). Discovered that Chromogranin A was widely distributed in cells and tumors of the neuroendocrine system and developed a monoclonal antibody for diagnostic use. Established various scientific laboratories for histopathology diagnosis including Immunohistochemistry (1981), In Situ Hybridization (1993) and Molecular Diagnosis (2001). Mentor of over 150 medical students during pathology rotations; dozens of pathology and MD/PhD students during their pathology training; and over 16 postdoctoral trainees.
