- Renal Medullary Carcinoma

Submitted by: Athanase Billis

A 25-year-old black male was hospitalized due to macroscopic hematuria. Computerized tomography (CT) revealed a solid, expansile mass measuring 7cm in greatest diameter in the lower pole of the right kidney. The patient underwent a radical nephrectomy.

- Carcinoma Cuniculatum of Penis

Submitted by: Antonio Cubilla

83-year-old patient with a foul smelling exophytic mass involving the distal portion of the glans. The lesion was slowly-growing for the past 4 years. A biopsy revealed a well-differentiated verrucous squamous cell carcinoma. A partial penectomy was performed.

- Phyllodes Tumor of the Prostate Gland

Submitted by: Edward C. Jones

A 48-year-old man presented with obstructive renal failure secondary to an enlarged prostate gland. After treatment by transurethral curettage, the patient was lost to follow-up. Two years later he presented with recurrent renal failure. A repeat transurethral curettage removed 23 grams of tissue. The HE section is representative of this second curettage specimen.

- Clear Cell Carcinoma of Bladder

Submitted by: Esther Oliva

A 78 year-old woman presented with hematuria of 2 months duration. A cystoscopic exam revealed a large polypoid broad based lesion located at the trigone and extending up into the bladder. Vaginal examination was unremarkable. The patient underwent a transurethral resection of the mass.

- Seminoma with Intertubular Growth

Submitted by: Pedro L. de Oliveira

A 31 year-old-male presented with a right sided spermatocele. An echographic evaluation of the scrotal contents showed an ill-defined 12mm area near the hilus on the left side. During excision of the spermatocele a surgical evaluation of both testis was performed and since no visible or palpable abnormality was present bilateral testicular biopsies were done (Slide 1). A radical left orchidectomy was subsequently performed. (Slide 2).

- Angiomyofibroblastoma–like Tumor of Scrotum

Submitted by: Hema Samaratunga

A 63-year-old male presented with a painless left scrotal mass, which was first noted a few weeks previously. There were no associated symptoms. The mass was found to be external to the testis. A radical orchidectomy was performed in continuity with the mass.

- Tubulocystic Carcinoma of Kidney

Submitted by: Mathilde Sibony

A 56-year-old male had a left lower pole kidney mass discovered by ultrasonography performed for urinary symptoms related to prostate hypertrophy. The lesion measured 3cm in diameter and had imaging characteristics of a benign tumor. A smaller renal mass in the right kidney, with typical characteristics of renal cell carcinoma was simultaneously discovered. The urologists decided to perform a needle biopsy (slide 1), followed by a local resection (tumorectomy) of the left sided tumor (slide 2).

- Effects of Therapy (Radiation, Hormones and Chemotherapy) on the Prostate Gland

Submitted by: Lawrence True

The 62-year-old male underwent needle biopsy of the prostate following a serum screening PSA of 22 ng/ml. The biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma of the prostate, Gleason combined score 4 + 3 = 7 of 10. Since the patient was deemed to be at "high risk of recurrence" he was entered into a neoadjuvant trial of Mitaxantrone-Taxotere, after which he underwent radical prostatectomy with lymph node dissection.
