The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology publishes two journals: Laboratory Investigation and Modern Pathology. Receipt of one of these journals is forthcoming with dues payment; members may subscribe to both with a small additional payment.

USCAP members may access their subscribed journal(s) online after selecting a unique Username and Password via our Member Access Gateway by clicking on either of the journal icons below.

Non-members may purchase a subscription for either Laboratory Investigation or Modern Pathology from Nature.com.

NOTE: There is an intermittent problem at nature.com where even though you have entered a valid Username and Password, you might still be denied access to the full content of the journal. If you are a USCAP member with a valid Username and Password and you are presented with the "ACCESS" screen at any time during your interaction with the journal on nature.com, please scroll to the bottom of this page for support.

Laboratory Investigation is devoted to the publication of current research that significantly advances the understanding of human and experimental disease. Papers devoted to basic biology are published with a perspective of relevance to experimental or clinical aspects of disease. Technical methodologies are featured when they have potential to further knowledge of disease. Publication is monthly.

Modern Pathology features diagnostic anatomic pathology and, as such, has a utilitarian orientation. It contains original scientific papers, selected short courses, appropriate special lectures, reviews, editorials, letters to the editor, and Academy News. In many ways, it reflects the didactic composition of the Academy's annual meeting. Publication is monthly.

NOTE: The method Nature.com uses to authenticate USCAP members who sign in to our site (to gain access to our journals on the Nature.com site) requires information that may be blocked by firewalls such as "Norton Internet Security" (NIS).

If you are getting the Nature 'Access' Screen instead of the content you expect, please click here to test.

If you see a response like this:

then most likely you have a firewall issue and need to make an addition to your firewall configuration. Please see detailed instructions below.

If you see something like this:

then this is what nature.com expects, and most likely you are experiencing an intermittent problem with the nature.com database. Please call George Clay immediately at +1 724.449.1137 if this is the case.

....or if you see something like this:

after visiting the journal on nature.com and return to this page to click the test link above, please call for support as well.

If you have NIS, please make the following configuration changes:

  1. Open Norton Internet Security (Double click the NIS icon in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen.)
  2. Click the 'Privacy Control' link on the Norton Internet Security Control Panel, then click 'Configure'.
  3. Click 'Advanced' on the 'Privacy Control' window that appears.
  4. Click 'Add Site' on the 'Advanced' window that appears.
  5. Enter: www.nature.com on the 'New Site/Domain' window that appears and then click 'OK'.
  6. On the right-hand side of the 'Advanced' window, under the 'Global Settings' tab and under the section: 'Information about visited sites', uncheck 'Use Default Settings' and click 'Permit'.
This will permit information about your membership authentication to flow to nature.com, which is a respected site, and this is required to allow access to our journals. If you continue to have difficulties, please call George Clay at +1 724.449.1137 or email guidesign.com for support.
