Privacy and Confidentiality Statement
The United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) values the trust and participation of our constituent members and guests, and the information given by them to enable us to provide services on their behalf. As such, we have posted this disclaimer to inform any concerned parties about the personal information that we collect, and the ways in which it is used.

Personal information
The USCAP collects the name, birth date, gender, address(es), phone number(s), fax and email address(es) of members. Whatever address(es) and number(s) they are willing to provide-usually their work contact information. We record their employing institution, if any, and when the individual joined. We do not record social security numbers, credit card numbers, or any other personally identifying information other than what is stipulated above. Information relating to electronic transactions entered into via USCAP websites is protected by encryption technology.

When members join, they are assigned a web log-in number and password, which we note in the database, and the members will use to access their account information. Members can change their password and user ID; changes are recorded in case they are forgotten. We also record member's orders, subscriptions, and historical information regarding committees served on and previous meetings attended. All information is stored on secure servers, with reasonable technical and organizational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information stored there.

Using personal information
The individual contact information listed above is available to other USCAP members in the online member directory; however, members may opt out of having their information displayed in the directory. We do not sell or make available email or phone lists; we do 'rent' for one-time use our membership postal mailing list for educational purposes, books, or to institutions who are offering courses, lectures and/or materials that do not conflict with those provided by the USCAP. We do not make our addresses available to trade journals. As part of the usage requirement, a sample of what will be circulated is required to be sent to the USCAP for approval before addresses are provided.

For a limited time prior to meetings sponsored by the USCAP, vendors who will be exhibiting at the meeting are offered the opportunity to buy one-time use of the postal addresses of meeting registrants-member and non-member-for the purpose of sending in advance of the meeting promotional material that may be of benefit. As part of the usage requirement, a sample of what will be circulated is required to be sent to the USCAP for approval before addresses are provided.

The USCAP complies with HIPAA policies, and screens all content published, shown on the internet or at meetings to be sure no individually identifying information is displayed. Care is taken to ensure all presenters and authors who will be presenting or publishing with the USCAP are in line with HIPAA policies.

Updating this statement
The USCAP may update this privacy policy by posting a new version on this website. You should check this page periodically to ensure you are familiar with any changes.
