Executive Vice President

David B. Kaminsky, M.D., FIAC, has been USCAP’s Executive Vice President since July 1, 2014. He was a community-based pathologist in Palm Springs, California, with an academic perspective focused on education and patient-centered care. He was Chairman, Department of Pathology, at Eisenhower Medical Center for 28 years and then established a private practice laboratory dedicated to surgical pathology and ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy, working primarily as a solo practitioner. During his tenure at Eisenhower Medical Center, he served on the Board of Directors of the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences where he conceived and launched the teleconference series for the American Society of Cytopathology and subsequently, Africa Calls, a distance learning endeavor that brings continuing medical education to 21 sites in Africa, initially funded by Annenberg Center and now by the ASCP. As a pioneer in fine needle aspiration biopsy he published Aspiration Biopsy for the Community Hospital in 1981 and collaborated with Dr. William J. Frable in numerous lectures and workshops to promote acceptance of aspiration biopsy as a diagnostic technique. Dr. Kaminsky served as President of the American Society of Cytopathology and received the Papanicolaou Award and the President’s Award. He was the inaugural President of the ASC Foundation. He is Past-President and a current Board Member of the California Society of Pathologists. He has lectured throughout the world on fine needle aspiration biopsy. His interests outside medicine include documentary film-making (Academy Award Nomination for film, short documentary category; Emmy Nomination for Executive Producer, feature documentary), organizations of film festivals, Italian cinema and cinematography (Palm Springs International Film Festival, Bangkok International Film Festival, American Film Institute, Palm Springs Art Museum). He was awarded the Cavaliere della Repubblica Award (knighting) by the Italian government for his work in medicine and Italian cinema. His goals include collaborative education, organizational excellence, and strengthening pathology as a leader in contemporary medicine.

Darlynne L. Baki

Director of Operations USCAP West

Darlynne Baki relocated from Alexandria, Virginia to Palm Springs 15 years ago, changing professions from project management for naval architecture firms supporting the U.S. Navy to executive assistant to the Executive Director of the Palm Springs International Film Festival where she met Dr. Kaminsky. Her extensive experience in project management and systems design and her intimate knowledge of the film world were ideal attributes for an association with Dr. Kaminsky that began 14 years ago. She was his collaborator at Eisenhower Medical Center in areas of Patient Safety, Total Quality Management and Arts in Medicine. She then became the practice manager for Palm Springs Pathology Services and initiated all systems recognized by CLIA as a benchmark in design and function. Her interests include travel, reading, and enjoying the home she shares with her Israeli husband, Amos. She is thrilled to become a part of USCAP and apply her talents to expansion of the Academy.

Membership Services Assistant

Prior to joining USCAP, Tina worked at Morris Communications/The Augusta Chronicle as an Ad Order Entry Specialist for contracts.  Her prior experience at The McGraw-Hill Companies in New York City for over twelve years included, most recently, the position of Medical and Marketing Academic Coordinator. She relocated to Augusta, Georgia in August of 2011 with her children, Eddie and Erinn, to be closer to family. She loves it here and is excited to be part of the USCAP Team!

Krista M. Cairns

Annual Meeting

Krista Cairns joined the USCAP family in July 2015. She has 15 plus years of experience working in public, private and government education systems. Krista holds a B.S. in Social Psychology from Park University and a M.A. in Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. Krista prides herself on being a lifelong learner and passionate educator of children and adults. Outside of work, Krista enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, of 16 years and their three children Wyatt, Jake and Coralyn. The Cairns family is supportive of animal rights and currently has four rescue dogs and one cat.

Having worked for 13 years in every facet of customer service imaginable, LaToya joined the USCAP team in July of 2015. She assists the Education Coordinators in preparing the Stand Alone and Annual Meetings. Additionally, she coordinates with our West Coast Interactive Center team with the preparations of the IM Meetings in Palm Springs, California. Upon arrival, LaToya was intrigued with every aspect the Academy has to offer. She enjoys working with a culturally diverse organization that supports the continuing medical education efforts all over the world and could not think of a better place to be.  LaToya’s main goal is to always strive to be better than she was the day before, soaking up all of the knowledge and skills the academy has to offer on so many different levels. She is looking forward to unlimited opportunities in her future with the academy. LaToya loves getting lost in a good book, taking Zumba classes and spending time with her family, two of the most important being her children. 

Robin Costello

Robin Costello

Director of Conferences and Events

Robin has over 20 years of experience in hospitality management. Prior to joining USCAP, she worked as an Event Planner for the nation's largest non-profit addiction treatment organization, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Robin has been on sales and marketing teams supporting convention services and event management for the Palm Springs Desert Resorts Communities Convention and Visitors Authority. She is responsible for the site selections and logistics of all the USCAP meetings.

Robin has been married for 20 years and has two children. She enjoys hiking, watching soccer, traveling and spending time with her family.

Christian Giangreco

Christian Giangreco

Director of Information Technology

Christian Giangreco received his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Cellular Biology from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and his Master’s degree in Public Health from UCLA. After working as an Epidemiologist for the LA County Department of Health Services, he began working for a number of Internet eCommerce companies as a developer, project manager, and director of technology. In 2001, he started a Web hosting company (RIS Technology) that supported such clients as Nissan, Sanyo, The Recording Academy (GRAMMY.com), and Gatorade. After the successful sale of his hosting company, he was hired to build out the Managed Services practice at Guidance Solutions. Most recently, he worked for the County of San Bernardino, Department of Behavioral Health implementing a replacement to their legacy Finance system and a new Electronic Health Records system. Christian will be focusing his talents with the Information Technology and Digital Development projects. During his free time, he volunteers with the National Ski Patrol and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue. Feel free to challenge him on his 80’s music and film trivia.

Stacie Hargett

Assistant Meeting Planner

Stacie Hargett originally joined the USCAP in November of 2012. After a brief break, she is excited to be rejoining the team as the Assistant Meeting Planner. Stacie supports Robin Costello, the Director of Conferences and Events, in the logistical planning of the Annual Meeting and USCAP’s stand-alone meetings. With a B.A. in Communications from Augusta University, she enjoys the opportunity to work with talented people from around the globe and is honored to work for such an internationally renowned organization.  As a newlywed, Stacie enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, exploring new restaurants, exercising, and volunteering to help stray animals.

Claire Kilfoyle joined USCAP in 2017 as Director of Education.  She has over ten years of experience in medical education. With a background that includes working with neuroscientists, microbiologists and endocrinologsts, she is well versed in providing top notch education to physicians and scientists.  Claire truly enjoys working with members to develop and execute educational activities. She has also worked on many strategic initiatives throughout her career including the development of regional and international programs and fostering relationships with global partners. 

Claire loves to travel, but when she’s home she enjoys running, hiking, skiing, and most other outdoor activities.

Carolyn Lane

Director of Membership Services

Carolyn Lane began her career with the Academy in 1980 as Membership Services Coordinator, hired by Dr. Nathan Kaufman (Secretary-Treasurer) and James Crimmins (Administrator) one week after earning her B.A. in Business Administration. Carolyn has gladly supported the very important mission of the Academy and its world-wide efforts for 35 years, and has an impressive historical perspective. The Membership Department (Carolyn, Teresa, and Tina) strives to provide excellent membership support and customer service to the Academy’s 20,000+ members and constituents. All issues pertaining to membership, meeting registration and online purchases are coordinated within this department. Carolyn enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with friends and family, especially her five grandchildren.

Paul Lewin

Director of International Development

As Director of International Development for USCAP, Paul Lewin brings two decades of private sector, non-profit and public policy experience to USCAP. Paul has been an active board member of several non-profit organizations, and will be the lead contact person for the USCAP Foundation. As a former elected official, Paul has a strong background in handling large budgets and balancing competing organizational needs. In addition to serving the USCAP Foundation, Paul also works towards the overall mission and goals of USCAP from supporting the newly established Powers-Sanchez Interactive Center and the Linder Learning Center to facilitating organizational events. With a Masters' Degree from The George Washington University in International Development, and an Bachelors’ Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from UCLA (magna cum laude), Paul brings a global perspective to USCAP’s leadership team. In his personal time, Paul enjoys hiking, snowboarding and serving his community.

Susanna Martinez

Executive Assistant

Susanna joined USCAP as the Executive Assistant in 2017, supporting the Executive Vice President, the Director of West Coast Operations and the Chief of Business Development. Her role allows her to take part in all the areas of the Academy. She focuses most of her efforts in assisting Dr. Kaminsky, the USCAP Foundation and providing excellent customer service.  

Born in Palm Springs, California Susanna attended music school in Los Angeles, where she was certified in Audio Engineering and Music Production. She became a signed artist and opened her own music studio. Susanna developed a strong business sense and learned the importance of growth, both personally and professionally. She strives to assist in the success of the Academy and her team members.

On her time off, Susanna enjoys spending time with her husband and their dogs, traveling and cooking.

Travis Newman

Director of Finance

After almost ten years of providing accounting and auditing services across the CSRA, Travis Newman entered the private sector and joined the USCAP team in April 2013.  During his professional career as an auditor and tax accountant, Travis worked closely with nonprofit Board members, as well as his individual clients in assisting each with accomplishing their individual missions and goals.   At the Academy, Travis manages the financial operations, business operations, and human resources functions because of his understanding of business priorities and his commitment to inspiring highly effective teams, contributing to operational growth.  He holds his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Augusta State University, where he is currently in the graduate program. Travis is an avid golfer, music lover, volunteer coach and father of two beautiful little girls.

Teresa Powers

Membership Services Coordinator

Teresa Powers has been a member of the USCAP team since August of 2012, supporting activities associated with member acquisition and retention efforts. Teresa also serves in providing seamless constituent satisfaction with USCAP meetings related to pre- and post-registration efforts. Teresa has over 16 years of nonprofit organizational experience dedicated to a member-centered approach to service; including recruiting, processing, managing member databases, statistical analysis and developing member benefit programs. Teresa lives in Warrenville, South Carolina. She is married to Scott and they have one daughter, Taylor. When she’s not involved with her daughter’s busy competitive gymnastics schedule, she enjoys container planting, long walks, and trips to the lake with her family.

Deborah Waterhouse

Deborah Waterhouse

Interactive Coordinator

Deborah Waterhouse joined USCAP as the Interactive Coordinator in June of 2015 where she is responsible in the areas of resident engagement/ambassador program, global outreach, and the USCAP Interactive Center, located in sunny Palm Springs, CA. She has a B.A. in Psychology from Eastern Connecticut State University and holds a California Real Estate license. Prior to her affiliation with USCAP, she was a commercial property manager with over 17 years experience managing office and retail centers in Connecticut and California.

Deborah’s decision to change her career focus parallels simultaneously with the USCAP organization at a time when USCAP is transitioning and reinventing itself with new ideas and concepts in this ever-changing digital age!

While her prior experience and management skills will serve her well in this position, she is excited to join the Academy at a time of positive change and new challenges.

Deborah and her husband relocated from Connecticut to California several years ago to escape the cold winters and to be closer to their adult children.

In her free time, Deborah enjoys entertaining, traveling, and spending time with friends and her adult children as well as her two dogs!
